DURHAM, N.H. - Andy Karam (Schenectady, N.Y.), a junior midfielder on the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team, was named Player of the Week by America East on Monday afternoon.
Karam recorded two goals and an assist in a 3-0 victory at home against Maine on Saturday, the 'Cats only game of the week. The assist moved Karam into fourth place on the all-time assist list at UNH, tying Brian Young with 16. Karam leads the 'Cats in scoring for the season with 11 points (4 goals, 3 assists).
Karam was forced to sit out last season after breaking his leg in an exhibition game. Two years ago Karam recorded 11 assists, leading the team and ranked 15th overall in the nation. Three of his assists came on game-winning goals.
The Wildcats return to action this Friday when they host Boston University in a key early season America East battle. Game time at Lewis Field is 3:30 p.m.
