BARTLETT, JACKSON & FRANCONIA, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire skiing program plays host to the UNH Carnival on Jan. 24-25, with alpine racing scheduled for Attitash Mountain (Jan. 24) and Cannon Mountain (Jan. 25) and Nordic racing at the Jackson Ski Touring Center on both days.
UNH, which finished fourth in last weekend's Colby Carnival, begins the weekend with the alpine team competing in giant slalom at Attitash on Friday while the Nordic team competes in the 5K (women) and 10K (men) classic at Jackson Ski Touring Center.
On Saturday, the alpine venue changes to Cannon Mountain for slalom competition. The women's 10K and men's 15K skate mass start freestyle races take center stage at Jackson.
The Wildcats alpine team makes it three mountains in three days when it heads to Burke Mountain on Sunday, Jan. 26, for the Vermont Carnival SL races that were postponed from Jan. 11.
Randa Teschner (Petawawa, Ontario) is EISA's No. 4 SL skier, and Laura Rozinowicz (Toronto, Ontario) is ranked seventh in GS. Jay Ogle (Pittsfield, Mass.) paces the men's alpine team in both GS (No. 7) and SL (No. 9).
On the Nordic side, Elizabeth Izzo (Lake Placid, N.Y.) is 11th in freestyle and No. 15 in classic for the women. Per Lindgren (Pitea, Sweden) leads the way for the men at No. 4 in classic racing, while Eirik Fosnaes (Hovik, Norway) is the top 'Cat freestyle racer (No. 24).
