DURHAM, N.H. – Senior forward Nick Sorkin (Rockville, Md.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team has signed a professional tryout contract with the Hamilton Bulldogs, the AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. Marc Bergevin, General Manager of the Canadiens and the Bulldogs made the announcement Wednesday.
"I am very happy for Nick," said UNH head coach Dick Umile. "I wish him continued success and know he will be a great asset to the team."
Sorkin registered a career-high 41 points in 2013-14 with UNH as he lit the lamp 20 times and dished out 21 assists. Six of his goals came on power plays while three were game winners. On Dec. 2, Sorkin was named the Warrior Player of the Week by Hockey East after a five point effort in a two-game road sweep of Colorado College. As a junior, Sorkin was held to a pair of goals and 15 assists after enduring a wrist injury.
As a sophomore, Sorkin had a breakout year for the Wildcats as he recorded nine goals and a team high 26 assists for 35 points. Through his four years with the Wildcats, Sorkin competed in 142 games, registering 34 goals and 64 assists.
