DURHAM, N.H. – Senior forward Kevin Goumas (Long Beach, N.Y.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team signed a contract with the Adirondack Phantoms, the AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, for the 2014-15 season and an amateur tryout for the remainder of this season. The organization made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon.
"I am very proud of Kevin and his accomplishments," said UNH head coach Dick Umile. "We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."
Goumas is coming off a stellar season with the Wildcats as he posted career marks in goals (19), assists (33) and points (52). On Nov. 2, he recorded his 100th career point to become just the 71st player in program history to enter the Century Club. On March 1, Goumas achieved yet another milestone as he notched his 100th career assist in a four point effort to help the Wildcats to home ice in the Hockey East quarterfinals. He is just the 16th student-athlete in program history to achieve the 100-assist plateau. Goumas ends his Wildcat career ranked 29th on the all-time scoring list with 146 points from 44 goals and 102 assists.
He was honored at the Hockey East Championship banquet as a Hockey East Second-Team All Star selection as a senior and was named to the Hockey East All-Tournament Team. As a junior, Goumas earned Hockey East Honorable Mention All Star status and was named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team and shared the Guy Smith Award for Best Offensive Forward on the UNH roster. As a rookie, Goumas earned Hockey East Rookie of the Month honors for February and was also named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team.
