Men’s Hockey’s Trevor van Riemsdyk Signs with Chicago Blackhawks
DURHAM, N.H. – Junior defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk (Middletown, N.J.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League on Monday night. The contract will go into effect for the 2014-15 season.
van Riemsdyk, who was hampered by an ankle injury for the last half of the 2013-14 season, notched 23 points on four goals and 19 assists in his 26 games played this year. As a sophomore in 2012-13, he was a First-Team All-America selection, a Division I All-New England All Star, a First Team Hockey East All-Star and was a member of the All-Tournament team at the NCAA Northeast Regional. He played in all 39 games and recorded 33 points on eight goals and 25 assists. In all, van Riemsdyk played 102 career games with 16 goals and 59 assists in his three years as a Wildcat.
The blueliner and the Wildcats finished the 2013-14 season with an overall mark of 22-18-1 after a heartbreaking loss to UMass Lowell in the Hockey East Championship on Saturday, March 22.
