WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore goaltender Casey DeSmith (Rochester, N.H.) of the third-ranked University of New Hampshire men's hockey team was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. The announcement was made Monday by the league office. DeSmith collects this honor for the fifth time in his collegiate career and the fourth time in the last five weeks.
DeSmith went 2-0 with a pair of road wins this weekend. He recorded his fourth shutout of the season and third straight on Friday night at Lowell (3-0). He followed that up by stopping 45-of-46 shots in a 3-1 win at No. 11 Boston University on Sunday. DeSmith set a UNH program record with 203:32 of scoreless hockey in net for the Wildcats. He posted a .986 save percentage and a 0.50 GAA for the weekend. He has won four-straight games and allowed just one goal in that span. DeSmith is first in Hockey East in every statistical category.
UNH captured its first team of the week honors thanks to a pair of critical Hockey East road wins. The Wildcats won at UMass-Lowell, 3-0, on Friday night and captured a 3-1 win on Sunday afternoon at Boston University. The team has won four straight and are off to their best start since the 1968-69 season.

UNH will play at 14th-ranked Colorado College on Friday, Nov. 23 (9:37 p.m.) and square off against second-ranked University of Denver on Saturday, Nov. 24 (9:07 p.m.).
