CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Chris Pelcher (Albany, N.Y.), a senior center on the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team, was named America East Co-Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Pelcher averaged 17 points, 15.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, and 1.5 assists during a 1-1 week for the Wildcats. The center tallied a double-double with 14 points and 16 boards in UNH's, 84-81, Tuesday night victory over Duquesne before adding a second double-double performance of the week in the Wildcats' Sunday night loss to NJIT, scoring 20 points and securing 15 rebounds on the night.
For his efforts in Sunday night's game, Pelcher was named America East Player of the Game for the second time this season. He was previously honored as America East Player of the Game for his 25-point, 17-rebound performance in a, 94-70, win over Suffolk on Nov. 9.
On the year, Pelcher is averaging 19.7 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks. He ranks atop the America East in each of those categories.
This is the first time that Pelcher has earned Player of the Week honors in his career.
Pelcher and the Wildcats return to action Thursday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m. when they travel to take on #17 Marquette.
