DURHAM, N.H. — Sophomore center Blagoj Janev (Sydney, Australia) of the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team has been selected as one of Australia's best young players under the age of 22 and will represent his country in a European tour from June 30-July 17.




DURHAM, N.H. — Alder "Jim" Hatch, a 1940 alum of the University of New Hampshire and 1994 inductee into the UNH Hall of Fame, passed away on Tuesday, June 8. Hatch, a native of Dover, was a two-year letterwinner on the UNH men's basketball team.

The Wildcats celebrated a season in which they advanced to the semifinals of the America East after capturing their first playoff win since 1995. BOSTON- Junior guard T.J. Sorrentine scored 19 points on 5-7 shooting from behind the arc to lead the second seeded University of Vermont to a 58-50 win over the University of New Hampshire men’s basketball team on Saturday night at Walter Brown Arena in Boston. The Wildcats conclude the 2003-04 season with a 10-20 record overall. The 10- win mark doubles the win output from a year ago. Vermont advances to play the winner of the Hartford and Northeastern game.

With the loss, UNH drops to 8-19 overall, with a 4-13 mark in America East conference play. Hartford improves to 10-16 overall, 5-12 America East

With the win, UNH improves to 7-18 overall with a 3-12 record in America East. UMBC falls to 7-17 overall 4-11 America East.

ALBANY, N.Y. — Senior guard Marcus Bullock (Cherry Hill, N.J.) scored 19 points on 7-10 shooting from the floor and 5-7 marksmanship from behind the three-point line to lead the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team to an America East victory at the University at Albany Saturday night, 60-54.

The loss drops UNH to 5-16 overall with a 1-10 mark in America East. BU improves to 16-4 overall, 10-1 America East.

Northeastern finishes the season sweep with UNH and improves to 13-8 overall with a 7-3 mark in America East. New Hampshire drops to 5-15 overall, 1-9 in America East.

With the win Hartford improves to 9-8 overall, 4-3 in America East. New Hampshire drops to 5-14 overall with a 1-8 mark in America East conference play.




BURLINGTON, Vt. - Sophomore Ronnie Dennis (Abbeville, Ala.) scored 17 points to lead three Wildcats in double figures, but it was not enough as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team dropped an 82-68 decision to University of Vermont on Saturday at Patrick Gym.

The win is New Hampshire's first win at West Gym in three trips. With the victory, the 'Cats improve to 5-11 overall, 1-5 in the America East conference. Binghamton drops to 6-10 overall, 2-3 America East.

With the loss, the Wildcats drop to 4-11 overall, 0-5 in America East, while Maine improves to 9-5 overall, 3-2 in conference.




STONY BROOK, N.Y.-Cori Spencer scored off an offensive rebound as time expired to lead Stony Brook University to a 62-60 win over the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team Sunday afternoon. With the loss the Wildcats dropped to 0-4 in America East play and 4-10 overall. Stony Brook improved to 2-2 in America East and 5-8 overall with the win.

BOSTON - Boston University overcame a sluggish start to record a 56-51 win over the University of New Hampshire at Case Gym on Friday, Jan. 2. It was the America East opener for both teams. Senior guard Matt Turner scored all of his team-high 14 points in the second half.




WEST POINT, N.Y. - Freshman Blagoj Janev (Sydney, Australia) scored 20 points including 18 in the second half to help lead the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team to a 61-47 win over Army Tuesday. New Hampshire improves to 4-6 with the win, the loss drops Army to 3-6.




PITTSBURGH- Senior Julius Page scored a game-high 19 points to lead No. 16 Pittsburgh to a 52-38 win over New Hampshire Saturday at Petersen Events Center. The victory improves Pittsburgh to 12-0, its best start to a season since 1929-30 and its third-best start in school history.




KINGSTON, R.I. - Brian Woodward scored 23 points, grabbed six rebounds and four steals and Dawan Robinson scored 22 and swiped four steals as the University of Rhode Island men's basketball team defeated New Hampshire 82-53 Sunday at the Ryan Center.




MANCHESTER, N.H. - Marcus Bullock (Cherry Hill, N.J.) drained five three-pointers and totaled 15 points to lead the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team to a 56-45 win over Dartmouth at the New Hampshire Hoops Classic hosted by the Verizon Wireless Arena Sunday. BOSTON - Sophomore Ronnie Dennis (Abbeville, Ala.) scored a career-high 26 points to lead three players in double figures as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team posted a 81-75 victory over Harvard University at Lavietes Pavilion Saturday afternoon. The win marks the first win at Lavietes Pavilion for UNH since Nov. 29, 1988 as the Wildcats improve to 2-2.




DURHAM, N.H. - Head men's basketball coach Phil Rowe announced the signing of, a 5-10 guard Chris Vetrano (Andover, Mass.) a 6-7 forward Mike Christensen (Reston, Va.), and a 6-10 center Ryan Gargaro (Woodbury, Minn.) to national letters of intent to attend the University of New Hampshire next fall.




BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech men's basketball team won its home opener with a 30 point victory over New Hampshire, 79-49, Saturday evening in Cassell Coliseum. The game marked the first game for new Virginia Tech head coach Seth Greenberg.
