SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
The Wildcats welcome EAGL preseason favorite and 19th-ranked North Carolina State to Lundholm Gymnasium for a Friday night meet. The Wolfpack competed with No. 17 Maryland on Jan. 11, and the two EAGL programs finished in a 195.000-195.000 tie. N.C. State junior Diahanna Ham is the reigning EAGL Gymnast of the Week. Ham shined in the home opener at Reynolds Coliseum by finishing first on floor exercise and all-around. Her 9.900 on vault was good for second place. Ham is EAGL's third-ranked gymnast on vault (9.888 AVG.) and top-ranked AA performer (39.113 AVG.).
LAST MEETING – Feb. 17, 2012 (Raleigh, N.C.) - Jillian Hudson (Sparkill, N.Y.) scored a 9.825 to tie her then career high on vault as the Wildcats were outscored by N.C. State, 195.700-193.900, to end UNH's winning streak at seven. With the setback, the Wildcats' record slipped to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in EAGL competition. The Wolfpack improved to 6-3 on the season, 2-0 in EAGL.
Austyn Fobes (Howell, N.J.) scored a season-high 9.850 on uneven bars to finish runner-up in that event and added a third-place tally of 9.800 on balance beam.
The Wildcats began the meet on bars, led by Fobes and Danielle Reibold (Horsham, Pa.), who posted a 9.775 to finish fifth. Stephanie Ouellette of N.C. State captured the high bar score with a 9.875, and the home team squeezed out a 48.875-48.600 event win.
Hudson tied Ouellette for second place on vault, while the Wolfpack's Brooke Barr compiled a 9.900 for the event victory. N.C. State totaled 48.975 to edge UNH (48.825).
Kayla Gray led the Wildcats on floor exercise with a 9.825 and earned third place in the process. The rest of the floor lineup was plagued by uncharacteristic faults, causing the 'Cats to fall, 48.875-47.775. Barr (9.875) claimed the high floor score.
UNH bounced back on beam, paced by Fobes' third-place effort and a career-high 9.775 from Jannelle Minichiello (Orlando, Fla.), who took fourth. The Wildcats totaled 48.700 on beam, just shy of the Wolfpack's 48.975. Lane Jarred of N.C. State posted a 9.900 to finish in the top spot.
