15 GYMNASTS NAMED TO EAGL ALL-ACADEMIC SQUAD
DURHAM, N.H.—Fifteen members of the University of New Hampshire women’s gymnastics team were honored this week after being named to the 2010 EAGL All-Academic team in recognition of their outstanding efforts in the classroom. UNH’s total of 15 student-athletes honored tied for second-best in the league.
Four senior members of the team; Kelsey Alwin (St, Michael Minn.), Helena Diodati (Scarborough, Maine), Diane Grey (Spring, Texas) and Keeley Smith (University Place, Wash.) earned league honors for the fourth consecutive time.
Three-time winners of the award for the Wildcats included juniors Katie Caliendo (Manorville, N.Y.), Janae Sernoffsky (Elizabethtown, Pa.), and Chelsea Steinberg (Ridgewood, N.J.).
A total of 94 student-athletes from the eight EAGL schools were named to the team, which was announced by the EAGL sports information office. Only 16 student-athletes were four-time honorees.
In order to be named to the EAGL All-Academic team, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. Freshmen are also eligible, if they earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the fall semester.
