TARYN LAFOUNTAIN NAMED EAGL SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
DURHAM,
N.H.—Senior Taryn LaFountain
(Utica, N.Y.) of the University of New Hampshire women’s
gymnastics team was named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League
(EAGL) Specialist of the Week for her outstanding efforts in the
Wildcats’ first-place victory at its own UNH Invitational on
Jan. 17 at Lundholm Gymnasium. UNH won the meet with a season-high
score of 195.0.
LaFountain recorded first-place finishes on the balance beam
(9.850) and in the floor exercise (9.925) to lead the ‘Cats
to victory over Ball State, Utah State and Yale. Her score of 9.925
on floor was a career-best for her, topping her previous
career-high of 9.9.
LaFoutain is presently ranked fifth in the league in the floor
exercise with an average of 9.812 in two meets.
The Wildcats will return to action this week on the road at Brown
along with Southern Connecticut and MIT on Sun., Jan. 24. The meet
begins at 1 p.m.
