DURHAM, N.H.- The Wildcat women recorded their eighth win of the season Saturday, February 10th against the University of Massachusetts. The University of New Hampshire posted a final score of 193.600, while UMass finished with 192.325.
The Wildcats started their rotation on the vault, where they totaled 48.05.Senior Wendy Wheaton (Rockville, Md.) held the high score for the team, as well as overall in the meet, with a 9.75. Jenn Dickson (Salisbury, Md.) and Michelle Harley (Collegeville, Pa.) rounded out the top three with a 9.65 and 9.575, respectively.
On the uneven bars, Suzanne Poretz (Alexandria, Va.) helped pace the team to a total of 48.7, with her high score of 9.85. Poretz placed second overall in the event, and recorded a personal best. Harley also recorded a personal best on the bars, and placed third overall with an 8.25.
Starting their third rotation the Cats were ahead 96.75 - 95.6. Dickson held the team high score and placed second overall in the event with a 9.8.
Poretz and Katie Revis (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) both recorded personal bests on the floor exercise, each with a 9.825, but it was Rose Kosowski (Whitesboro, N.Y.) who took the event with a 9.9. Kosowski placed second in the all-around competition with a 38.8. Poretz took first-place with a 38.850. UMass gymnast Jen Gendron rounded out the top three in the all-around.
With this win UNH improves to 8-2 on the year. The Wildcats return to action Saturday, February 17th at 7 p.m. at the Whittemore Center. They host Texas Women s University, Northern Illinois, and Michigan State at the Fox Run Invitational Gymnastics Meet.
