ALLSTON, Mass. – Friday night's field hockey game between eighth-ranked University of New Hampshire and 15th-ranked Boston University has been suspended at halftime with UNH leading 2-1.
The game, played at Harvard University's Jordan Field, was officially suspended following a second delay caused by lightning. Play will officially resume Monday, October 17 (4 p.m.) at Boston College.
UNH took an early 2-0 lead on goals by Hayley Rasuch (Severna Park, Md.) at 7:59 and Whitney Frates (Woodstock, Vt.) at 12:32. Kyle Lyons (White River Junction, Vt.) assisted on Frates' goal. Goalkeeper Katherine Nagengast (Westborough, Mass.) was credited with three first-half saves.
BU trimmed the deficit to 2-1 on Tabi Hatch's goal at 24:16 and Terriers' goalie Valentina stopped two first-half shots.
Before resuming play against the Terriers, UNH returns to action Oct. 16 with a home game against 11th-ranked Boston College. Game time is 3 p.m. at Memorial Field.
