DURHAM, N.H. -- Senior back Brittany Schneider (Middletown, Md.) of the University of New Hampshire field hockey team was named to the 2004 STX/NFHCA Division I All-Northeast First Team, the NFHCA announced Tuesday. Sophomore forward Caitlin Gillen (New Preston, Conn.) was named to the Second Team.
Schneider, who was named to the America East All-Conference First Team earlier this month, was the anchor of UNH's defensive unit since she arrived in Durham as a freshman. She started all 20 games this season and recorded six points with two goals and two assists as a part of the offensive penalty corner unit. She recorded a goal and an assist in six conference games.
Gillen, an America East All-Conference Second Team selection, battled through injury at the beginning of the season and started all 20 games. She recorded a team-best four assists, tied for the lead in points with 14 and ranked third in goals (five).
Both Schneider and Gillen garnered America East All-Tournament Team honors as well in November.
UNH finished the 2004 season at 4-16 overall, 2-4 America East following a loss in the semifinals of the America East Championships vs. Boston University.
