New Hampshire Field Hockey Falls To Old Dominion, 5-2

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The University of New Hampshire field hockey team was defeated by Old Dominion University, 5-2, in a Sunday afternoon game played at Penn State University.

UNH (1-1) fell behind 4-0 in the first half before freshman Jennifer Stamp (Tyngsboro, Mass.) scored her second goal in as many games. The Wildcats entered halftime trailing 5-1 and trimmed the deficit to three goals when sophomore Marcie Boyer (Dillsburg, Pa.) scored with 18:47 to play.

New Hampshire senior goalkeeper Amy Agulay (London, Ontario) made 16 saves, including 11 in the first half. ODU's MaryBeth Freeman was credited with one save.

ODU was led offensively by Marjolyn van der Sommen (two goals), Angie Loy (two goals) and Manna DeGiacomo (goal, assist).

New Hampshire returns to action Sept. 2 (1 p.m.) at Massachusetts. The home opener is Sept. 22 vs. Drexel at 3:30 p.m.
