UNH Field Hockey Defeats Central Michigan 2-1

EVANSTON, Ill.- The University of New Hampshire field hockey team defeated Central Michigan University 2-1 at Northwestern University Sunday.

In the first half, UNH senior Kristin Iarrusso (Southwick, Mass.) put the Wildcats on the board 1-0 on a rebound off of a corner shot. Wildcat junior Kelly Stowe (Topsfield, Mass.) later found the net on a direct shot to put UNH up 2-0. Central Michigan capped off the scoring when Kasey Hall scored to make it 2-1.

Wildcat junior goaltender Amy Agulay (London, Ontario) played the entire game, making six saves. Central Michigan goaltender Malia Swieconek also played the whole game stopping seven shots. UNH improves to 2-0-0 with the win.

Wildcat coach Robin Balducci was pleased with the team's performance.

"I'm happy we've had two games with five different scorers. We've generated attack from the corners and also scored a goal on a corner," she said.

UNH faces off against Northwestern University, Monday September 6 at 3 p.m.
