EASTON, Pa. – Assistant coach Brian Barbato of the University of New Hampshire football program was among the more than 300 coaches who participated in the 11th Annual Lauren's First and Goal Pennsylvania Camp held June 1 at Lafayette College's Metzgar Athletics Complex.
The camp consisted of more than 1,900 high school athletes from 16 different states and raised more than $114,000. The camper registration fees and donations go directly toward the foundation's mission of supporting pediatric brain tumor research, patient services and families living with the disease.
Barbato, who is entering his seventh consecutive year and eighth overall on the UNH football coaching staff, and Wojick were among those who volunteered their time and expertise in a variety of offensive and defensive skill instructions.
Lauren Loose, a 17-year-old pediatric brain tumor survivor for whom the foundation is named, addressed the campers, as did featured guest speaker Jeff Monken of Army's football program.
The foundation has raised more than $1.5 million since 2004 as a result of tremendous community support and generous donors, with more than $1.3 million dispersed to pediatric research, patient services and families. For more information, visit www.laurensfirstandgoal.org.
