Goldrich Tabbed to the CFPA Quarterback Watch List

CHARLESTON, S.C. – University of New Hampshire junior quarterback Sean Goldrich (West Haven, Conn.) was named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS Quarterback Award watch list on Monday, June 9.

The list comprises 36 returning quarterbacks that are competing for the CFPA award as the one who increases the overall effectiveness of their team the most within the Football Championships Subdivision.

In the past season, Goldrich started nine of the 14 games in which he played including all four postseason starts for the Wildcats. Despite splitting time at quarterback, Goldrich put up impressive numbers last season that placed him in the Top 10 in every Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) quarterback statistic. These included passing average per game, passing efficiency, passing yards per completion, passing yards per attempt, completion percentage, passing yards, attempts, completions, touchdowns and interceptions.

Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions; players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration. For more information, visit www.collegefootballperformance.com.

Goldrich was impressive throughout the season, and put up exceptional numbers throughout the playoffs. Most noticeable was his performance against CAA rival University of Maine in the NCAA FCS second-round game. In the game, Goldrich produced career-high numbers in both passing yards and passing touchdowns throwing for 291 yards, three TDs, and zero interceptions as the Wildcats went on to win 41-27 over the Black Bears in Orono.

Goldrich used that performance to propel him into the quarterfinal game, where he passed for 276 yards and rushed for 99 yards, including three TDs, as the Wildcats beat Southeastern Louisiana University, 20-17, in Louisiana. The victory marked the first time the Wildcats' football program reached the NCAA FCS semifinals in program history.

In this past May's intrasquad scrimmage, Goldrich went a perfect 12 of 12 for 139 yards and a TD.

After ending a record breaking 2013 campaign, the University of New Hampshire Wildcats open the 2014 season Saturday, August 30 (Time TBA) at University of Toledo.
