Sports Medicine Announces Hiring of Berg and Promotion for Lesnikoski
DURHAM, N.H. – Jon Dana, the director of sports medicine at the University of New Hampshire, announced Friday that Hannah Berg has been hired as an assistant athletic trainer and Margaret Lesnikoski has been elevated to the position of athletic trainer.
“Hannah is a welcome addition to our staff,” Dana said. “She brings enormous enthusiasm and knowledge to UNH, and will play a vital role in the health care of Wildcat student-athletes. Margaret has demonstrated great work ethic and desire to provide excellent athletic training to the student-athletes at UNH the past three years.”
Berg, a 2008 graduate of Connecticut State University who went on to earn a Masters in Athletic Training from Kent State University in 2010, is a certified member of the National Athletic Training Association (NATA) and is a licensed athletic trainer in the states of New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Colorado. She also has a CPF for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid & AED Essentials certification and is certified as a Red Cross and ASHI First Aid & CPR Instructor.
Berg will provide preventative care, treatment, evaluations and rehabilitation for the UNH field hockey and women’s basketball teams.
Prior to coming to UNH, Berg was an assistant athletic trainer and clinical coordinator at Fort Lewis College (Durango, Colo.), where she worked specifically with the women’s volleyball and basketball teams while assisting with nine other varsity teams in her two-year stint (Aug. 2010-June 2012).
As a graduate assistant at Kent State for the 2009-10 season, Berg was the primary trainer for the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field teams. During the 2008-09 academic year, Berg was at Newton Falls High School (Youngstown, Ohio) and was assigned to the football, boys and girls soccer and basketball, baseball and softball teams.
Berg also interned with the Connecticut Sun of the Women’s National Basketball Association in the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
Lesnikoski, a 2009 graduate of the University of Vermont, joined the University of New Hampshire Sports Medicine staff as an intern in summer 2009.â€¨â€¨Lesnikoski is a certified member of the NATA and EATA. She is a licensed athletic trainer in New Hampshire, has American Red Cross CPR/AED Certification, and is a BOC certified athletic trainer.
Her responsibilities at UNH include providing preventative care, treatment, evaluations and rehabilitation for women's soccer as well as the men's and women's indoor/outdoor track & field teams. She previously worked with the volleyball team (2009) and has also worked at various UNH summer camps (football, women's volleyball and women's soccer).
