INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — University of New Hampshire Deputy Athletic Director Steve Metcalf has been appointed Chair to the NCAA National Collegiate Ski Committee, the NCAA recently announced.
Metcalf will enter his first year as chair, ensuring that the philosophies and standards of the NCAA are promoted and enforced. He will oversee the committee as it implements and changes any rules and regulations while controlling, directing and supervising the men’s and women’s skiing championships.
Prior to his involvement with the skiing committee, Metcalf has also served as the chair for the American East Championship Committee and the NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey Committee for two and three years, respectively.
Metcalf is currently in his 15th year at UNH, having served the athletic department in a number of different capacities over the years. As the Deputy Athletic Director, he oversees all internal operations, as well as the women’s ice hockey, men’s soccer, field hockey, women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s skiing, men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track & field programs, and the areas of strength and conditioning and sports medicine. Additional duties include a role as Director of Athletics Marty Scarano’s designate for all league affiliations and NCAA Championships, as well as assistance in the daily operation of the department.
