INDIANAPOLIS—The University of New Hampshire athletic department saw seven different sports programs honored on Wed., April 22, as recipients of 2008-09 NCAA Public Recognition Awards for their efforts in the classroom. The teams receiving the honor for UNH included: men’s cross country, football, men’s soccer, men’s indoor and outdoor track and field, and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field.

DURHAM, N.H.– The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team gathered together for its annual banquet Sat., April 4 at Holloway Commons. Seven seniors were honored for their careers as a Wildcat.
The team’s seven seniors Dan Cripe (Raymond, N.H.), A.J. Dubois (Acworth, N.H.), Mike McKee (Newton, Pa.), Scott Rowling (Richboro, Pa.), Joey Twum-Barima (Essex, England), Kyle Urso (Lombard, Ill.), and Richie Weinrebe (East Providence, RI) were celebrated for their contributions to the team. The seniors posted an overall four-year record of 33-22-19.

DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire men’s soccer Head Coach Rob Thompson recently announced the signing of six recruits who will join the Wildcats and attend UNH in the fall of 2009.
“I am excited to add another outstanding class to UNH Soccer,” Thompson said. “I expect these incoming players to compete for playing time and significant roles right away and I am anxious to see how our additions impact our relatively young team next fall.”

DURHAM, N.H. – Scott Rowling (Richboro, Pa.), a senior midfielder for the University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team, was named one of 20 members of the United States men’s soccer team that will compete at the 18th Maccabiah Games in Israel from July 12-23.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.— The University of New Hampshire athletic department had 82 student athletes named to the America East Conference’s Academic Honor Roll last week.Students had to earn grade point averages of 3.0 or higher to receive this recognition. Of those student-athletes, 274 earned Commissioner’s Honor Roll status for completing the fall semester with grade point averages of 3.5 or higher. UNH was tied for second in the conference for number of athletes receiving recognition. The Wildcats were ranked fifth in percentage of student-athletes honored.

DURHAM, N.H. - Senior Kyle Urso (Lombard, Ill.), of the University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team, was recently selected to the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) All-Northeast Region Third Team.
This past season, Urso, who was selected to the America East 2008 Men’s Soccer All-Academic Team, started in all 18 games and led the squad in assists with five. Additionally, he has tallied four goals, two of which were game-winners, for 13 total points.

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire men's and women's soccer teams recently received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2007-08 academic year.
In total, 363 teams were honored, however, only 59 institutions including UNH, earned the award for both their men's and women's programs. Teams qualified for the award based on a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. For UNH, the men's team accumulated a GPA of 3.18, while the women's team earned a 3.15 for the year.
