MONTREAL – Incoming freshman Cam Reid (Delta, B.C.) of the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team was selected by the Nashville Predators with the 192nd pick in the seventh round of the 2009 National Hockey League Entry Draft on Saturday afternoon at Bell Center in Montreal.

DURHAM, N.H. – Dick Umile, head coach of the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team, has announced the eight-member incoming freshman class of 2009 Tuesday afternoon. Austin Block (Northridge, Calif.), Greg Burke (Lee, N.H.), Connor Hardowa (Edmonton, Alberta), John Henrion (Holden, Mass.), Ansel Ivens-Anderson (Pound Ridge, N.Y.), Brett Kostolansky (Denver, Colo.), Scott Pavelski (Plover, Wis.) and Cam Reid (Delta, B.C.) comprise the Wildcats’ freshman class for the upcoming 2009-10 season.

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The New Hampshire Legends of Hockey (NHLH) announced Friday, May 22 that University of New Hampshire men’s ice hockey head coach Dick Umile was among a group of seven Hall of Fame inductees for 2009. In addition, former Wildcat assistant coach and longtime voice of the team Bob Norton will also be inducted. Details of the Induction Ceremony including the date, time and location will be released at a later date by the NHLH.

2009-10 Schedule
DURHAM, N.H. —
Dick Umile, head coach of the University of New Hampshire men’s ice hockey team, recently announced the team’s schedule for the 2009-10 season.

Last season, UNH advanced to the NCAA Northeast Regional final for the first time since 2005 and captured its 13th-straight 20-win season. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAA tournament for the eighth-straight season, a feat accomplished by only UNH and Michigan. The Wildcats will open the 2009-10 season at home with an exhibition match against Acadia University Saturday, Oct. 3 (7 p.m.) during homecoming weekend, and will officially kick off the regular season on Oct. 10 (4 p.m.) at the Rensselaer. UNH opens its home slate with national championship finalist Miami University for a two-game home set Oct. 16-17 at Whittemore Center.

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team will participate in the Bobcat Bolt 5K/10K road race on Saturday, May 9 (9 a.m.) to honor the memory of Nate and Josh Hardy, sons of Donna and Steve Hardy. Donna worked in the Department of Psychology at the University for many years and Steve is the Faculty Athletics Representative for the NCAA and a sport studies professor at UNH. Josh died of brain cancer in 1993. Nate, a Navy SEAL, was killed in Iraq in February 2008. The UNH team dedicated their 2008-09 season to honor Nate's memory and will run for him this weekend.

DURHAM, N.H. -- University of New Hampshire men’s ice hockey senior defenseman Kevin Kapstad (Boxboro, Mass.) has signed a contract to play for SC Riessersee of the 2.Bundesliga league (2.GBun), Germany’s second tier league. Kapstad agreed to terms on a one-year deal that will begin on Aug. 1. He will join the Blue Angels for the start of the 2009-10 season. Former Wildcat Gordie Clark (1971-74) also played for SC Riessersee toward the end of his long professional career.

Leclerc Award as the team's Most Valuable Player for the 2008-09 season, announced at the annual team awards banquet Saturday afternoon at the Whittemore Center.
