DURHAM, N.H. – Former University of New Hampshire men’s basketball athlete Rob Dixon has been named one of 30 finalists for People Magazine’s 2009 “All-Stars Among Us,” and will represent the Boston Red Sox when the finalists from each Major League Baseball market are honored by People and MLB at the 2009 MLB All-Star Game in St. Louis, Mo., on July 14, live on FOX at 8 p.m. One winning "All-Star Among Us" will be featured in People the week of the All-Star Game.

Anyone needing help composing a hall of fame induction speech should consult 76-year-old Manchester native Billy Pappas, a man who is fast becoming a wizard in the process.

On July 2 in San Francisco, Pappas will deliver his fifth such address when he is inducted into the Athletic Hellenic Hall of Fame. One of his head-table neighbors will be tennis legend Pete Sampras, who will also become a member of the Greek organization's hall of fame that night. They will join an illustrious group that includes Harry Agganis, Bob Costas, Fred Smerlas, Diana Nyad and Manchester native Gus Zitrides. The only perplexing aspect to the Pappas induction is why it took so long. Many of those who saw him play contend that he is the Granite State's greatest all-around athlete.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The America East conference announced Thursday that 204 University of New Hampshire student-athletes have been named to the America East Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll. Furthermore, 97 of those Wildcats received distinction on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
    UNH had the third highest total of representatives on both the Academic Honor Roll and Commissioner’s Honor Roll. The women’s outdoor track and field team had 55 student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll, which marked the highest total for all winter and spring sports; that team also had a league-high 28 representatives on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men’s basketball team will host its annual Wildcat Day Camp, provided for boys and girls entering grades second through ninth from July 27–31.

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Radar Onguetou (Yaounde, Cameroon), a forward on the University of New Hampshire men’s basketball team, received the Political Science Faculty Award at the political science department’s award ceremony May 12 at Murkland Hall.

DURHAM, N.H. – Head coach Bill Herrion and his staff announced Thursday that Ferg Myrick (Philadelphia, Pa.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of New Hampshire and join the men’s basketball team in the fall.

DURHAM, N.H. – Five players received awards, a pair of seniors were recognized and the team and its extended staff were honored at the annual, season-ending University of New Hampshire men’s basketball awards banquet Sunday afternoon at Huddleston Hall.

DURHAM, N.H. – Head coach Bill Herrion and his staff announced Monday that sophomore forward Rony Tchatchoua (Douala, Cameroon) has asked for and was granted a release from his scholarship for the University of New Hampshire men’s basketball team.
