WOMEN’S
LACROSSE (9-4, 3-1 America East)
• UNH scored a
season-high 17 goals in a nine-goal victory against Binghamton on
April 17 to improve to 6-1 at home this season. The Wildcats have
won five of their last six games overall.
• Shaunna
Kaplan (Framingham, Mass.) recorded her 100th career goal
with the second of her two tallies vs. Binghamton. She is currently
third on UNH's career assist leaderboard (73) and eighth in points
(173).
• Freshman midfielder
Amber Casiano (South Windsor, Conn.) was honored
as the America East Rookie of the Week for the second straight
week. It marked the fourth consecutive week and fifth time overall
this season a UNH player received the honor.
• Seven Wildcats scored
multiple goals vs. Binghamton. JoJo Curro
(Amherst, N.H.) tallied a team-high three goals and also had an
assist for a total of four points.
• UNH will honor Kaplan
and Kellen Millard (Reading, Mass.) – the
two seniors – prior to the April 24 game vs. Albany. It is
the last regular-season home game for the 'Cats, who conclude the
regular season with road games against Boston College and
Vermont.
MEN'S OUTDOOR
TRACK & FIELD
• UNH had one competitor
at the Holy Cross Decathlon (April 14-15) and then traveled to
compete at the non-scoring Larry Ellis Invitational that was held
April 16-17 at Princeton University.
• Anders
Nordquist (Wolfeboro, N.H.) finished in sixth place at the
decathlon. He recorded the best effort in the shot put (12.71
meters) and tied for second in the high jump (1.90m).
• Brice
Paey (Milton, N.H.) took first place in the shot put at
the Larry Ellis Invitational with an NCAA Regional-qualifying throw
of 17.48 meters.
• Michael
Simon (Durham, Conn.) finished first in the javelin with a
throw of 59.33 meters. Chris Morgan (Goffstown,
N.H.) placed fourth with a mark of 57.46m.
• UNH had seven other
top-six efforts that included runner-up finishes by Matt O'Connor
(Rhinebeck, N.Y.) in the 3,000m steeplechase and Will
Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) in the 100m. O'Connor crossed the
finish line with an NCAA Regional-qualifying time of 8 minutes,
58.57 seconds.
• Paul
DeTurk (Durham, N.H.) had an NCAA Regional-qualifying mark
of 60.34m in the hammer throw; he placed fourth in the event.
WOMEN'S OUTDOOR
TRACK & FIELD
• UNH sent three
student-athletes to compete at the Holy Cross Heptathlon (April
14-15) and then traveled to the non-scoring Larry Ellis
Invitational that was held at Princeton University from April
16-17.
• UNH won three events at
the Larry Ellis Invitational. Ashlee Lathrop
(Sherburne, N.Y.) won the hammer throw with a toss of 55.51 meters.
Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) ran to victory
in the 3000m by crossing the finish line in 10 minutes, 13.27
seconds. In the 1500m, Elizabeth Campbell
(Colonia, N.J.) led a 1-2 finish with a time of 4:41.05;
Jennifer Racine (Haverhill, Mass.) followed in
4:42.38.
• Camille
Quarles (Derry, N.H.) had a strong meet with second place
in the long jump with a leap of 5.65m and fourth place in the
triple jump at 11.86m.
• The Wildcats' 4x400m
relay team of Megan Dohohue (Stratham, N.H.),
Allison Letourneau (Kingston, Nova Scotia),
Brittany Verville (Bow, N.H.) and Allison
Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) finished fourth with a time of
3:57.33.
• UNH's 4x100 relay team
comprised of Tayla Ryan (Norwood, Mass.),
Chelsey Canavan (Stoneham, Mass.),
Elizabeth Adejuyigbe (Penacook, N.H.) and Brehm
placed fifth in 49.47 seconds.
• At the Holy Cross
Heptathlon, Kelly Thomas (Chichester, N.H.)
finished third overall with 4,416 points and was followed by
Kate Early (Corning, N.Y.) and Kaitlyn
Duggan (Hatfield, Pa.) in fourth and fifth, respectively,
with 4,411 and 4,307 points.
• Thomas was the
second-fastest runner in the final event – the 800 meters
– with a mark of 2 minutes, 24 seconds. She had the
third-best effort in the shot put (10.12m).
• Early recorded the top
mark of 10.85 meters in the shot put, the second-longest throw in
the javelin (30.64m) and the third-best mark in the high jump
(1.63m).
• Dugan recorded the
third-fastest time in the 200m with a time of 26.76 seconds as well
as the third-best mark of 5.22m in the long jump.
